My Great Aunt

The third child of Thomas & Mary Prout, born in 1896 in Leeds Yorkshire

Nancy was born on 25^th August 1896, in Leeds Yorkshire. At the time of Nancy’s birth her father was working as a manager for the GPO’s new telephone department, which meant the family were moving around the country a lot.

By the time of the 1901 census in April, the family was living at 138 Wilmslow Road, Chorlton. These day’s this is part on the Greater Manchester area.

Nancy never married, and lived with her parents, and after her mother’s death, her father.

This included, Winchmore Hill North London (1910’s & 1920’s) Brixham Devon (1940’s) and St Ives Cornwall (1950’s until mid 1980’s when she moved to a nursing home in Falmouth Cornwall.

After her father’s death in 1967, her brother Jack, and his wife Millie, moved into the ground floor of the house in St Ives, Cornwall, and Nancy lived in the first floor flat.

Nancy moved into the nursing home during the 1980’s, and died at The Royal Cornwall Hospital (Treliske), in Truro on 1^st September 1986.
