This website details members of the Prout family from St Agnes in Cornwall, England It starts with Abraham Prout and his wife Christian, who were born in the late 18th century. At that time Cornwall was one of the world’s major producers of tin, copper & lead. During the mid 19th century, cheap imports from South America, destroyed the Cornish industry, and millions of miners, sometimes with their families emigrated to the new world of, the America’s and Australia, some stayed only a few years and others never returned.
